Manuscript, in multiple hands, of a collection of about 34 entries on such subjects as chivalry, tournaments, coronations, and heraldry. The manuscript includes accounts of the coronations of Richard II and Henry VII; instructions for coronations of kings and queens in England; a copy of instructions written for Richard II by Thomas de Woodstock, Duke of Gloucester, on the rules of tournaments, followed by several challenges to arms and records of medieval tournaments; and numerous documents pertaining to the duties of members of the College of Arms. The volume also contains a history of the office of herald; instructions for heralds on diplomatic missions; and rules concerning women's right to bear arms. Other items in the manuscript include a copy of rules of mourning dress for the court by Margaret Tudor, Countess of Richmond; a list of privileges and responsibilities of the provost marshal; and a list of the rules of war, including statutes and ordinances for the army and the taking of prisoners.
